Is no. 6 for India is worth that place in test team?

India is paying a price of not playing a technical specialist batsman at number 6. Raina did nothing good in domestic arena to get a chance in test match, of course other then doing good for Cheeni Super Kings on IPL. This personal favour is not good for best test team for long term. We have to come out of it is we want to keep this position for long time like Australia did. Raina at number 6 in test matches is as good as Ravinder Jadeja at number 7 in a 20-20 and one dayer.

Murli On 799!

Murli denied Sehwag his 3rd triple hundred by getting him out at 293. Now he is on 799 in his last test match and just one wicket away from magic number of 800! But the fate is smiling back at him. Will he? Wont he? I wish he could!!! Viru might get another chance to do it. But Champ spino will never…

A Romance With Chaos by Nishant Kaushik : Review

Just finish reading this book ‘A Romance With Chaos’ by Nishant Kaushik. I found the book very interesting and recommends reading this book. First half of the book is funny and interesting. But it looks that author try to complete the story in the 2nd half, still its not boring. Few incident in the story were left uncovered too, but many of the incidents you feel happens with you in daily office life. You will find all the character of the story associated with you at someplace or the other. All and all it’s a good book to read and price is reasonable too, just Rs 95/-.

Why Should I Vote?

Though I am on my toes now a day and didn’t get much time to write here on my blog, yet I feel this article demands me to snatch some time out of my busy working schedule. Well, So many advertisements are going around about ‘Go VOTE’ theme. But nobody is telling you why? You have every right to think that what the hell a single vote can do? How much revolution my vote can bring in a political system full of criminals and chance seekers. Why should I go and waste my time when this effort of mine is not even going to make any difference?

Before saying ant thing more about any of these questions, I would like to share a small statistic with you. What I normally observe is that average vote % in any election (I am not talking about exception but in general) varies somewhere 55 to 60 percent. In our hypothesis, in a particular constituency let’s assume its 58%. So if we have 100 votes (Forget about the kids or toddlers) in this constituency, only 58 go to vote and 42 didn’t. Now being a politician in that area, I have to plan my election around these 58 votes and irrespective of how bad I am, I need not to worry about these 42 people at all. In worst scenario, one more person (consider it at max 1% in a large constituency) will come and vote may be against me. So not a big deal. I just have to plan my election around 58 people.

Now, there are at least 3 (2 regional and one national) parties in my area. Out of these 58 people, some 8 to 10 people permanently belong to a party, irrespective of what they are. So if we take a mean and say 9 people per party, it becomes 27 in total. So if I’ll do 58-27 = 31. I’ll get my share of Votes i.e some 9 votes for sure so what if I am a criminal or whatever. And I’ll not say thanks to illiteracy or poverty of this country for this vote distribution. I know many of my friends who are not even well but over educated, but they belongs to a particular party at grass root level and they can’t change. You will find a personal of every status of society in these 9 people. Now I have to look out for remaining 31 votes as a candidate.

In my constituency, other than these big fishes, there must be some more candidate in election. Some of them will be belonging to a party who is well known but not a big fish or not have as strong vote bank (Say 9 out of 100, though 9/100 doesn’t looks like a strong vote bank in numbers, but unfortunately it is.) as the other 3 big parties have. Yet it has a share of vote around 4 people of that area. Now at least two candidate will be there for whom their big fish party doesn’t proves to be too loyal (Forget about how loyal they are to party, its election time dude J) for them. If they decide to fight the election against their big fish party, definitely they know few people in their area. Say 2 people will go with them by default so with 2 such candidate, total 4 person will not going to vote for me. And this 3+2+2 make it 7 in total. There must be some not so well known candidate in the area say 8 of them (To make total no of candidate to 14, which is quit a nominal number.) If these 8 candidate will grab 7 of votes of the area, I will be left with worrying about 31 – (3+2+2+7) = 17 Votes in total.

So by now I haven’t done anything other than getting a ticket of a big party who have their human base of about 9% in that area. Now I should plan my election around those 17 votes in that area. As we all know that the part of society which is not so developed economically, educationally and socially would rather go for voting. Because being educated and economically sound it’s a matter of sham for me to go and stand in a queue to cast a vote. So being a candidate, I’ll look to those groups of people and I know other 2-3 candidate will also look for them. I many have two three ways to convince them and they are 1) By money 2) By threat or 3) by some kind of promises (So what how false they will be). And I know I need not to worry about these votes for 5 years. I just need handful of money and a time of some 48 hours to turn this tide in my favor. If all of us will manage to get 3 each out of these remaining 17 votes, election will be left with only 8 votes. I have to take 3 of them to defeat my nearest contender (I’ll assume 1 vote for sure will go to rest of 11 candidates).

So now gentlemen, I need only 3% of total vote for which I have to do all the promises, for which I have to talk about development, for which I have to talk about policies or whatever they need. It quit easy for me to eye a particular cast or a high population area to work for some time and go through to parliament. And rest of you 42%, who doesn’t come to vote, go to hell. I need not to worry about you. Why do you want policies will be made for you? Why you hope from politicians?

So now I know what you are going to say. How much % swing my single vote can do? 0.0000000001%? Well I’ll say may be mate. In figures it may be as small a number as .0000000001%. But it will go to impact some .0000000004% of votes around you. It will motivate few more like minded person around you to  go and vote. When you kid will see that my mom or dad is going for voting It will teach him/her a lesson like all other good habits you are teaching him. And when your kid will go to school and tell his friend that my father go and vote, his friend definitely force his father in next election to go and vote. Otherwise he will feel shame in school. See kids are the best forces to drive parents who infect made society.

And yes, please don’t anticipate these changes all of a sudden. It may take a complete life span for you. But if you will not start it, your kids have to do it in their young age. But then by that time they have to suffer this criminal politics. Do you want them to suffer? Decide and if your answer is NO! then go and vote.

Please!!!!!!!!!

Don’t think about 1947, it came only after 1857. Start revolution, independence will follow you.

Dravid’s Slump!

I am with Rahul. No body can question his ability and commitment for the team and country. He had given us so much joy and cheer in past by winning and saving so many test matches for us, for country. And probably he is the anchor of the era of Indian Cricket when we first stop loosing and then start winning matches overseas on fast and bouncy tracks. It’s the time when he is passing through the roughest and toughest patch of his career. It’s the time when he needs people to back him up.

I can’t consider them to be very good team players who are criticizing him. Just think about a person who is in your office, in your team or in your business who have helped you so many time in your work, or due to whose work your team got appreciated at time. If he is going through a bad time, what will you do? Will you urge to throw him out? If no, don’t talk nonsense about Dravid, and if yes, you are not more then a selfish crook.

My instinct says he is not very far away from a great inning. The ‘wall’ is just closed for renovation. When it’ll be open again, it will be much prettier then what it was in past. The only thing required at your end is patient.

Jai Hind!
